Welcome to 2016, and how is it possible that it is March already. Let us at least hope for some respite from the heat and humidity of February!
Handwriting
With the start of the school year we have begun to see a steady flow of students with handwriting concerns. Our resident paediatric Hand Therapist Hannah Munro has written a brilliant summary of the issues here. It is always a pleasure to be able to address these complex issues at this time of year, rather than before or during exam time when pain has “flared up” and stress levels are high.
Fracture Management
The Exos braces are proving popular with the ability to be able to be loosened and tightened and removed for X-ray. Please specify on your referral if you would be happy for your fractures to be immobilised in one. They are especially great for the paediatric and sporting populations.
Staffing Update
Lucille gave birth to a healthy baby boy in December and both are doing fabulously. We ofcourse miss her at the practice but feel fortunate to now have Hannah Munro with us 3 days a week. Adrian Jollow works on Monday and Wednesday’s and my clinical day is Friday.
Finally, I would like to wish all involved in this weekend’s Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras a happy and successful event – no rain and not too many hand injuries!
Thanks again for all of your ongoing support,
Clare
